Wikipedia – How are we represented?
Your Challenge:
-
Find the Jack Donohue PS entry on Wikipedia. Is it accurate and up-to-date? If not, it is up to us to update it and ensure it’s accuracy.
-
Visit the Introduction Wikipedia and learn the basics. Make sure you are familiar with what happens if you post inappropriate information.
-
Work together (try using Adobe’s Buzzword) to brainstorm what should be updated/added or deleted from the Jack Donohue PS entry.
-
Write up a rough draft of what you would like to contribute.
-
See Mrs. Smith for the log in so that you can start to publish your writing on the www!
happy holidays
Hey There!
I hope that you are enjoying the holiday break! While the weather outside is frightful, I am here figuring out how to make our blog more user-friendly. I have started to create “categories” for each member of the dmc. This is like having your own archive page. When you post something, scroll down to the “categories” dialogue box and select your name. IF you don’t see your name yet, post a reply to this message and I will create a category for you asap!
Happy New Year! See you in 2009!

Kyle, Yuyang, and Jesse’s Photostory
Our photo story is on how to search for a picture. We used Mario Party DS as a example!
Video Competition
Click the link below to find out more information about the “My Privacy and Me” video competition. Deadline for submissions is December 12th. If you would like to work on a video, speak to Mrs. Smith soon!
Online Comic Strip Creators
Your next mission is to take a look at a few online comic strip creators. Have a look at a couple of the ones below and try them out. When you are finished testing them, post a comment recommending one comic strip creator above the others. Give three reasons why you are recommending the comic strip creator.

PhotoStory How To Video
Hello! To get you started with PhotoStory3, take a few moments to check out these “How To” (yes, they are a procedural text) videos 😉
Using Photostory 3!
Hey There!
Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to create a digital procedural text using Photostory 3.
1. Get into a group with at least 1 other member (and up to 4 other members) of the JDPS DMC.
2. Select a simple “how to” as the topic for your digital procedural text. Your topic should be a procedure that you can explain in no fewer than 4 steps and no more than 10 steps.
3. Speak to Mrs. Smith to run your topic by her.
4. Visit http://www.eduplace.com/graphicorganizer/pdf/sequence.pdf and print the Graphic Organizer. Use it to map out your story, step by step. Make sure that your steps are in the right order and that they are logical. Don’t leave out a step! Imagine that your audience has no schema for the procedure that you are explaining. Make sure that each step is something that you can capture in a photograph.
5. Show your Graphic Organizer to Mrs. Smith.
6. Sign out a digital camera and take pictures of each step of your procedure. Do not take pictures of students who are not members of the DMC. Teachers are fair game 🙂
7. Upload your pictures to your h-drive or to your jump drive.
8. Open up photostory and create your digital procedural text!
